Hey BMES,

It’s Engineering Expo this week! BMES has a tradition of winning Expo awards and we don’t plan to make this year an exception. We will have our own room with multiple exhibits, such as a surgical robot, finger casting, and an electrospinning demo, in order to showcase what Biomedical Engineering is all about. That being said, Expo is a huge event (8000+ kids are signed up to attend over the three day period!) and we really need all the help we can get to staff our exhibit. If you have some free time and would like to help us out please sign up for a volunteer shift using this Doodle poll here.

Also, if you are interested in becoming a BMES officer for the 2013-2014 school year, nominations will begin this Wednesday at our biweekly General Meeting, and can continue up to the moment of the election. If you would like to know more information about a position, feel free to contact the officer currently holding it; you can find his or her contact information on our Officers page. In accordance with our constitution, elections will be held at our final general meeting of the semester on May 1st. You can run for as many positions as you would like, and the elections will occur in the following order:

Brewers game, get excited!

Hey BMES,

Thanks to everyone that came to tie dye shirts with us last Friday, we had a great time! If you missed out don’t worry, there’s plenty of tie dyed shirts left. Stop by our office during office hours or come to one of our meetings to get yours. With fall semester sign ups coming up soon we’ll be hosting a Class Advising Workshop this Monday where you can get all of your course questions answered. Also, don’t forget to join us this Friday for Relay For Life. The plan this year is to stay up until 6 AM, but I’m sure that won’t be an issue for those of you used to pulling all-nighters.

Hey BMES,

Welcome back from break! We know you are all missing your vacation spots already so we have planned some events to help you cope with being back in class. This Wednesday we will have Dr. Reikersdorfer from Eso-Tech give a talk about the esophageal cardiac vital signs monitoring system that they are developing at our General Meeting. Friday we will be tie dyeing BMES T-shirts after the Tong Distinguished Entrepreneur as well as going to the Food Pantry. Finally, BMES will also be participating in Relay For Life next weekend (4/12) and going to the Brewers game the following weekend (4/20).

I hope everyone’s midsemester presentations went well! Since most of you will still be busy with design deliverables until Wednesday we have scheduled our events for later in the week. On Wednesday we will have our biweekly General Meeting with speaker Mark Gehring, co-founder of Asthmapolis. Friday we’ll be at The River Food Pantry, and next Tuesday we will be Rock Climbing at Boulders.

Hey Everyone,

Are you ready for E-week!? BMES will be participating in this year’s E-week events so make sure you come help us out. We will also be hosting our own events, Stuck on You on Tuesday, and Euchre on Wednesday. In addition to E-week, this week we’ll be going to Science Olympiad and having our General Meeting with a representative from ABS Global on Wednesday. Friday we’ll go to the Food Pantry and we’ll finish the week off with our annual BMESkiing Trip on Saturday.

Hey BMES,

Good luck to everyone attending the career fair this week. Even though a lot of you will be busy with your job search, we still have a full week of events for you. We will be having science Olympiad every day this week, so if you have some time to spare come help the kids of Eagle Middle School! On Wednesday we will have a representative from AhR Pharmaceuticals speak at our general meeting, followed by Trivia Night at Lucky’s. Thursday we’ll be going Ice Skating at the Shell. And we’ll finish the week off with a local Habitat for Humanity build and the usual trip to The River.
